I had breakfast here and ordered the Nova Scotia Omelette and Eggs Benedict—everything was delicious and very well prepared. The vanilla latte was also really good. The service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back for breakfast.
Chocolate Maven looks like it’s in a warehouse district, because there’s not a lot of signage and no curb appeal. However, once you go inside, there’s a bakery and a restaurant section and there’s so many great looking and tasting pastries and cakes. The staff is friendly and helpful. When you enter the restaurant the layout is a little funky. There’s one main entrance and to the left, you can order pastries, coffee and teas to go. Off to the right is where you’ll wait for a seat to the restaurant. It can be a little crowded if you’re waiting for a coffee and people are coming in for the restaurant. This store does get crowded, so there’s lots of people going in and out. There is an area at the back of the shop where you can see them make homemade chocolate croissants. Overall great pastries, OK coffee, staff is great, but the layout is kind of funky. Still give it a four star.
This is a commercial bakery with an embedded restaurant. Parking is off street, in front of the bakery. You go through the bakery shop to get to the restaurant. There was not wait when we visited on a weekday morning. We got gluten free blue corn blueberry pancakes with pinions, a side of green chili sausage, and a Mediterranean omelet with smashed breakfast potatoes. The omelet was very tasty, with a healthy portion of feta and kalamata olives. The breakfast potatoes, baked then smashed and fried crispy were the star of the show. The green chili sausage was good but not exceptional. The blue corn pancakes were tasty, with a reasonable portion of pinions on top. Like many gluten free options, they lacked structural integrity. They were almost as good as the equivalent blue corn pinion pancakes at the Flying Tortilla (which are not gluten free). There was a window to the commercial bakery floor in the dining room where we were seated. We enjoyed watching cinnamon rolls being made during breakfast. It was a little pricey, $50 breakfast for two, but I felt like I got my money's worth. -- Update: We brought my vegan daughter to breakfast, where she ordered the vegan version of the breakfast sandwich (and my wife ordered the non-vegan version)
My first time experience was ordering from the bakery for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. They make the traditional round challah, and I ordered dessert. I was hosting a dinner for 12, while I was working in Santa Fe, so this was all new to me; and the guest who was going to bring dessert had to cancel, 2 days before the holiday and I had no time to add baking dessert. Chocolate Maven staff were very nice and helpful during a very busy time. You have to order breads and cakes 48 hours in advance, so if I had one comment for improvement, it would be the website, it is not very user friendly, there wasn't a simple way to order for pickup that I could find. I missed being able to order a traditional flavor - honey - I really wanted. But the dessert guest had canceled, and ultimately this is a first world problem! I ordered two cakes, black forest for a birthday celebration, and carrot cake was the next closest traditional option. I added a honey drizzle. They were both amazing and delicious, they were a huge hit, ready on time. And the staff was great about following up. I have heard nothing but raves about the food/restaurant, and that you can see them baking. I work 1x a month in Santa Fe and look forward to visiting in person! Thank you, our dinner was wonderful!
We came for breakfast this morning. A favorite of ours when we visit Santa Fe. Fresh chocolate croissant, cheese danish and 2 latte’s were perfect to start our day.
An original place within a warehouse style building. From a very un-assuming front entrance you go into a bakery and restaurant with a very homey/cozy atmosphere. The restaurant offers mostly breakfast type foods, like eggs, quiche, etc. The food is delicious and you can tell that is prepared with care. Service is great as well. Highly recommended.
